Hi, I’m Lecia Amaral…
… Founder and Design Director at The Marketing Designer & Co. Wife to a badass biker turned dad and mom to 2 gorgeous girls, 2 cats and 2 Border Collie pups.
I earned my stripes at the AAA School of Advertising in Cape Town, and while flipping burgers in the UK (story for another day). My design job in the UK didn’t factor in the cost of a good time so it’s just as well I lived off jacket potatoes and eventually decided to come home!
I’ve studied, studied some more (BTech Honours in Brand Communication), worked here and there, lectured and eventually started The Marketing Designer & Co where I’ve put together an incredible team with an awesome client base. We have assisted a wide variety of companies from small to large, including the likes of the Spargs Group and the Discovery Surfers Challenge team.
While the rest is history, I like to think that every event to date has led me here, to you, reading this. I’ve learned lots about strategy, marketing, and design, but the plain Jane in me has never been able to leave it at jargon, statistics and theories you are unlikely to remember after a three-hour meeting that could have been an email – that’s a headache waiting to happen. Instead, I am passionate about showing you how effective and simple it can be to use industry trends to your advantage, instead of them keeping you up at night, after all… we have kids and last minute projects for that!
I love what I do and take great pride in being a “go-to” for clients. I love taking charge and getting shit done – no fuss no frills.
Every business relies on a team and I know I wouldn’t be able to run this design and marketing agency without my awesome team! It takes a village to raise a child and I am extremely proud of my tribe!
We have a hybrid team of creatives who form part of our studio team assisting with everything from photography, copywriting and content planning right through to graphic design and web development. As you can imagine we totally embrace the digital era and although the entire team aren’t enjoying a cup of coffee with us in the kitchen, they are very much a part of our every day!
